Revising management mission statement and management tools

Current status or next steps:

  • New onboarding concept with focus on executives. 
  • Review of universitiy’s HR mission statement, including leadership culture and change. 

All orientation sessions for new professors and supervisors are mandatory and are held on an ongoing basis. Feedback from new employees has been positive.

The five introductory events cover relevant principles and objectives of the University of Bern on leadership topics:

  • ‘Welcome to the University of Bern - The Executive Board welcomes you ’
  • ‘Fundamentals of human resources management’
  • ‘Fundamentals of financial management’
  • ‘Employee appraisals - leading with goals’
  • ‘Good Teaching at the University of Bern

Professional Change Management

The rapid pace of change in today’s world places significant demands on the staff of the University of Bern. To ensure that everyone can effectively manage change and is well supported throughout this process, managers will receive professional change management support.

Implementation of the Canton of Bern’s change management “toolbox” is scheduled to begin in May 2026. The go-live of the entire website and toolbox is scheduled for April 2026. The corresponding website and the toolbox adapted for the University will be published in due course. In addition, role profiles will be developed to support various positions in the change process, and tailored training will be offered to employees, managers, HR staff, and change agents.
